Oh you think a billionaire just went up to space entirely using his own money? He used yours. He’ll keep using yours. The very rich know that the best way to save money is to always spend someone else’s.

Was today’s launch directly funded by taxpayer subsidies? No. But would Blue Origin exist today to launch Bezos into space if it hadn’t been for a steady, years-long influx of the hard-earned money of other Americans? No, it would not.

This is what privatization of the space industry looks like. They still spend our money on it, AND they get to enjoy all the fringe celebrity benefits.
